The Opportunity We are seeking a Fractional Chief Medical Officer who is excited to help build Owl Therapy from the ground up. This role is designed for a physician or senior clinical leader who: Believes in the long-term potential of Owl Therapy Is comfortable investing time, expertise, and capital at an early stage Wants meaningful ownership and influence to create a pathway to a full CMO role This position is equity-first and aligned with founders and early investors. Role Overview As Owl Therapy’s fractional CMO, you will partner closely with the founding team to establish clinical credibility, governance, and strategy. In this role, you will take clinical leadership in designing a more integrative care model with strong referral pathways and a focus on affordability and accessibility of mental healthcare with & through Owl Therapy. You will help ensure Owl Therapy launches and scales with integrity, unwavering-focus on exceptional client care, and clinical quality and excellence. Key Responsibilities Clinical Operations & Strategy Define & advise on Owl Therapy’s team-based clinical model, standards of care, and quality framework Design our scope of practice, supervision models, and clinician workflows Support the development of ethical, evidence-based therapy & mental health care offerings Evaluate tech enhancements to manual or time-consuming workflows for safety, impact on clinician & patient experience, and ultimately weigh in on the ROI on adoption Oversee & assist with onboarding & credentialing providers Design referral protocols, tech-driven client intake, & step-up & step-down pathways within and outside of Owl Therapy Regulatory & Risk Oversight Advise on healthcare compliance, licensing considerations, and risk management Partner with legal and operational teams to support HIPAA-compliant and ethical operations Flag and help mitigate clinical, regulatory, or reputational risks Oversee billing & coding policies and ensure proper coding and documentation Leadership & Collaboration Act as a trusted thought partner to the CEO and founding team Participate in key strategic decisions impacting clinical care and growth Help recruit and mentor future clinical leaders or advisors as the company scales Operations & Strategic Initiatives Create competitive compensation plans and clinician-friendly workflows and company culture that differentiates Owl Therapy on culture & provider well-being Provide advice & champion the revenue strategy and service expansion balancing growth, regulatory, and health outcomes objectives Advise on AI or tech enhancements with build, partner, buy recommendations External Credibility & Trust-Building Lend professional credibility to Owl Therapy with investors, partners, and clinicians Support thoughtful positioning without engaging in promotional or misleading claims Champion the Owl Therapy brand and introduce Owl Therapy to professional associations, payer networks, and other healthcare systems, clinics, or medical groups for collaboration & referrals Serve as a values-aligned clinical voice for the organization Time Commitment 10 hours per week; 40 hours per month – admin & clinical oversight only Strong preference for a fractional CMO who will also have direct patient-facing and clinical team-based work integrated into future workflows (~5 hrs per week) Compensation Structure Compensation is equity-based , reflecting the early-stage nature of Owl Therapy and the long-term value created through founding-level contribution. Any cash compensation, if offered, will be modest, market-aware, and secondary to equity alignment. Ideal Background MD, DO, or equivalent with National Board certification in psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, or other BH/mental health related medical specialties At least 7-10 years in progressively senior clinical leadership roles with direct supervisory responsibilities Min 10 years experience in role within BH service line or executive leadership role with direct supervisory responsibility for behavioral health service line or for care delivery within mental health care (e.g. large integrated clinics or practices are acceptable as well) Proven track record working collaboratively with therapists, social workers, and non-prescribing clinicians Currently licensed & board-certified to practice medicine in the state of Florida (or ability to get licensed and credentialed within the first 120 days) Willingness to get licensed as one of the Owl Therapy providers as we scale and provide more diagnostic and medication-related services Experience in healthcare leadership, clinical operations, digital health, or early-stage companies is a plus Strong ethical compass, collaborative mindset, and comfort operating in ambiguity Qualifications · Must be a licensed and board-certified psychiatrist or board-certified internal medicine or family physician with lifestyle medicine certification · Current, active license in the state of Florida (or ability to be licensed within 120 days) · 5+ years of direct care delivery via telemedicine strongly preferred · Experience working & advising in early-stage (pre-seed) startups strongly preferred · Min 5 years of working with and developing new products with innovation teams and non-clinical leaders Why Join Us? · Option to access equity in a mental health telemedicine company that is dedicated to transforming mental healthcare · Co-design an innovative mental health telemedicine company with other physicians, care team members, and with consumers / patients · Provide input into shaping better working conditions, benefits, etc. for clinicians and mental health professionals · Collaborate with other like-minded clinicians in a telemedicine company · Direct Impact: Help shape the future of mental health and behavioral health care in an innovative, responsible, and commercially viable way Equal Opportunity Statement Owl Therapy is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
