About the role
• Oversee compliance and reporting for restricted funds, including city, state, and federal contracts and grants, ensuring adherence to funder-specific requirements and regulations such as 2 CFR 200 / Uniform Guidance • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the engagement • Oversee accounting practices, audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations • Assess and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures, particularly around grant and contract compliance • Prepare financial statements, KPIs, and cash flow analyses for leadership and applicable funders • Provide steady financial leadership during interim periods, onboard smoothly, and transfer knowledge at engagement close • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, accountants, and external financial service providers • Oversee finance staff and/or external vendors during the engagement Requirements • 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including direct experience managing restricted funding and city, state, and federal government contracts • Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management, GAAP standards, and fund accounting • Proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel • Familiarity with additional ERP systems is a plus • Proven ability to step into interim or fractional roles and deliver results quickly with minimal ramp-up • Available for hourly, 1099 contract engagements with flexibility across multiple assignments • CPA, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills • New York Metro candidates preferred and open to working onsite for clients as needed; candidates elsewhere will also be considered Core Competencies
