Kforce has a client in Bronx, NY that is seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to provide strategic leadership and hands-on financial management support within a nonprofit environment.
Summary: This role is ideal for a seasoned nonprofit CFO or an experienced Controller looking to step into a CFO-level leadership opportunity. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating both strategically and tactically, helping guide the organization through process improvements, financial oversight, and team development.
Responsibilities:
• Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to executive management
• Oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting
• Lead month-end close and ensure compliance with GAAP
• Oversee government grants and contract accounting, billing, reporting, and compliance
• Support audit preparation and serve as a liaison to external auditors
• Review and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures
• Partner with operational leaders to support organizational decision-making
• Mentor and develop finance staff while helping establish accountability and best practices
• Assist in building a more efficient, centralized, and high-performing finance function
• 10+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting and finance leadership experience
• Significant experience with government grants and contracts
• Experience overseeing audits, month-end close, and General Ledger accounting
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial reporting
• Hands-on management style with the ability to balance strategy and execution
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work onsite in the South Bronx 2-3 days per week
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
