Cary Ballet Conservatory is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Finance Manager / Fractional CFO to oversee and manage the financial operations of the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting strategic financial planning, and ensuring the conservatory’s ongoing financial health and compliance.
The ideal candidate combines strong experience in bookkeeping and operational finance with the ability to provide high-level financial insight, forecasting, and budgeting support. Experience working with small businesses, nonprofits, educational organizations, or performing arts organizations is preferred. Key Responsibilities • Manage all day-to-day financial operations for the conservatory • Maintain and oversee Quick Books accounting system • Process and pay vendor invoices and bills in a timely manner • Manage payroll processing and payroll reporting • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and financial statements • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation Accounting Compliance • Prepare and file annual 1099 forms • Coordinate with external CPA/accounting firm for tax preparation and annual filings • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures • Assist with year-end close and audit preparation as needed • Monitor cash flow and maintain financial controls Budgeting and Financial Planning • Develop and manage annual budgets • Prepare quarterly Profit & Loss statements and financial reports • Provide cash flow forecasting and financial projections • Analyze financial trends and recommend improvements • Support leadership with strategic financial planning and decision-making Reporting and Leadership Support • Provide regular financial updates to leadership • Create clear, accurate financial reporting dashboards and summaries • Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings • Support long-term financial sustainability and growth planning Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting, finance, or CFO-level experience • Strong proficiency in Quick Books required • Experience managing payroll and vendor payments • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis • Experience working with external CPAs and tax filings • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality • Experience in nonprofit, arts education, or small business environments is a plus Preferred Attributes • Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail • Reliable, proactive, and solutions-oriented • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment • Passion for supporting arts education and youth development #J-18808-Ljbffr
